... and Justice for All ...

I agree in principle. That's why The Revolution stands for Mother Earth and Peace & Justice.

On the one hand, actions that help the planet help everyone. We need to be vigilant to ensure that justice for all includes justice for our Mother.

On the other hand, that's all good and well, but what about being able to EAT that day?! Not FREEZE to death that day?! We need to be vigilant to stand for justice for those who may be powerless or overpowered.

These factors all need to weighed when determining the best course of action. The causes of Peace and Justice and Planet Earth ought to go hand in hand rather than go fist to fist.

The key is that social justice and environmental causes need not be mutually exclusive, but this requires that neither group pursue their cause blindly. It requires that neither has tunnel vision, and the same goes for every single interest groups out there by the way.

I think that NIMBYism really does illustrate the problem. So long as we keep NIMBYing (what?), then we avoid the root cause of the problem, the sources of unchecked environmental pollution - capitalism, a lack of corporate responsibility, a lack of government accountability, blind comsumerism, etc. So long as we do not address these root causes, then it WILL go into someone's backyard, those with the most quiet voices.
